Strong SA Contingent Flemington Bound

Three local trainers are set to fly the South Australian flag at Flemington this Saturday as they step up their campaigns to go deep into spring. 

Race 1 – Listed Cap D'Antibes Stakes 1100m

Split Lip – T: Will Clarken J: Linda Meech

The Will Clarken trained Split Lip will be chasing her second Listed win on Saturday after winning the Listed Dequetteville Stakes in April this year. The filly ran on strongly in her first up run a fortnight ago at Morphettville and won the Dequetteville second up last preparation. Linda Meech will take the ride from barrier 13 and in a deep race is rated a $19 chance with UBET.

Mintha – T: Tony McEvoy J: Jye McNeil

Mintha is the only maiden in the Cap D'Antibes Stakes on Saturday. The Tony McEvoy trained filly has placed at Listed level, running third behind Indian Thunder and It’s a Myth in the Queen Adelaide Stakes in May. Her Victorian based stablemate Roomooz is the second favourite in the race behind the James Cummings trained Jorda. Mintha will be first up from a spell on Saturday and is rated a $26 chance with UBET.

Race 2 – Listed Pin & Win Plate 1400m

Eclair Sunshine – T: Phillip Stokes J: Regan Bayliss

Eclair Sunshine finished second behind the very impressive Cliff’s Edge over 1250m at Morphettville a fortnight ago. He steps up to the 1400m on Saturday with longer trips in mind being nominated for both the Caulfield Guineas and Caulfield Classic. The undefeated Tony McEvoy colt Royal Symphony will start a hot favourite in the race while Eclair Sunshine is an outsider in the field at $26 with UBET.

Race 3 – Listed The Sofitel 1400m

Mio Dio - T: Will Clarken J: Linda Meech

Linda Meech will aim to continue her successful association with Will Clarken’s Mio Dio on Saturday. The pair combined for a win in the Swan Hill Gold Topaz in June before running second behind the inform Cannyescent at Flemington over the 1400m. Mio Dio won the Group 3 Spring Stakes in fine fashion first up and then ran on well behind Gailo Chop in the Listed Penny Edition. Will Clarken has had a fantastic few months with his small team of horses and will be hoping Mio Dio can deliver in Melbourne. He is rated a $23 chance with UBET.

Race 6 – Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes 1400m

Serenely Discreet – T: Phillip Stokes J: Luke Nolen

The Phillip Stokes trained mare will return to the track where she claimed her Group 2 victory in the 2016 Edward Manifold Stakes with Luke Nolen in the saddle. The two combine again on Saturday as she attempts to get her spring campaign back on track after running fourth in the Penny Edition Stakes a fortnight ago. In a strong and very deep race, Serenely Discreet is a $21 chance with UBET.
