MEDIA RELEASE: $2,000 prize for Oakbank's most stylish racegoer

The style stakes will be high for this year's Oakbank  Easter  Racing  Carnival,  where Fashion at The Races (FATR) winners will walk away with bigger than ever before prizes.

Oakbank is the State's biggest race meet with a rich history of racing and fashion spanning over 145 years. The two-day event will take place at the Oakbank Racecourse on Saturday 20 and Monday 22 April, with the FATR competition to be held on Saturday.

Young and old, ladies and gents, are all encouraged to show off their style game with a suite of categories to enter including best dressed womenswear, best dressed menswear, best millinery, and the newly introduced, best foot wear.

The best dressed womenswear winner  will walk away with $2,000 cash and a $200 voucher for The Daily Edited, while the menswear winner will receive a $100 Shoe Shed voucher and a pair of Rossi Boots. There will also be great prizes up for grabs for winners of the other categories and the womenswear runner-up.

Winners will qualify for September's state final where the overall womenswear winner will walk away with prizes including a $5000 BNKR shopping spree and a $500 Shoe Shed voucher, while the menswear winner will receive $500 vouchers for The Daily Edited, the Shoe Shed and Rossi Boots.

Getting involved is easy and can be done at the registration booth in the general admission area, where entrants can register their details, collect their number paddle and find out competition location and timings.

Racegoers can stay looking glam all day by paying a visit to the trackside Beauty Bar, where Media Makeup will be touching up makeup on Saturday.

FATR Ambassador, Lauren Dilena, who will be attending Oakbank for the first time, said she's excited to be hosting the FATR competition and encourages everyone to give it a go.

"To stand out from the crowd, have fun and experiment with individual head-wear styles. This season there's such a diversity of accessories, and I absolutely love seeing competition entrants who wear beautiful handcrafted pieces. However, it's important to stay true to  your own personal style and comfort," Ms Dilena said.

"When selecting a winner, the judges are looking for that someone who strikes the right balance between tradition and current trends, with a touch of originality and obvious attention to detail."

Oakbank's 'picnic style' is truly unique and a perfect excuse to spend the long weekend in the picturesque  Adelaide Hills. Enjoy a weekend  with friends and family by taking advantage of the hospitality packages on offer, including the popular  Back  Paddock  Precinct  that  will boast a variety of food trucks, bars and drink vans.

Alternatively, the exclusive Molly Dooker Long Lunch is for those keen to treat themselves to exquisite wine and gourmet food. This brand-new experience  will be available on Saturday and with only 200 spots available, we recommend attendees book their seats now.

It's also the perfect destination for families with the much-loved Stable Stars Kids Zone and 30 FREE activities for kids, including pony rides, a bungy trampoline, Melbas Easter egg hunts, face painting, a rock-climbing wall and many more.

Transport to and from the racetrack will be easier than ever thanks to the Pony Express bus service provided by Sealink, which is offering $20 return or $10 one-way  tickets from a range of locations in Adelaide and selected hills hotels.

The Oakbank Racecourse is the only racetrack in Australia where you can BYO everything. So, if that's more your style, reserve a table, pack a picnic and a bottle of wine.
