An early look at Morphettville Parks - 29th June

James Jordan from Racing.com provides us with an early look at racing at Morphettville for Saturday June 29th.

There are strong winds forecast, as well as a lot of rain to fall in the early hours of Saturday morning. Without the rain I would imagine the track would be in the Soft 5 range. The Parks track drains well so if the 15mm of rain arrives I still think the track will be around the Soft 7 range. There are a couple I like later in the program but their chances will be hurt on a very wet track, so will leave them out for now. Everything considered, it's not the sort of meeting I am overly keen to invest heavily on until post-scratchings on Saturday morning.

Race 2 No.5 - Debt Collector

No genius for finding him but he maps to sit in the first three or four in a slow pace and a potentially wet track won't worry him. He finds a race full of out-of-form horses and can afford to run below his best and still account for them. No luxury odds at $1.50 but it's bang on the fair price in my opinion. If you're a punter who plays multis then he is one worth including.

Race 4 No.3 - Meli Melo

There's obviously been a big push for Super Swoop from midday Thursday, resulting in his price being cut from $3 to $2.35. I thought the $3 on offer for that gelding was short enough given he's had five starts on the Parks track and remains unplaced. I thought Meli Melo raced well again last start but couldn't get past Sasko after he secured an easy lead. The switch from outer track to inner suits Meli Melo more, as does the 1kg shift in weights. Competitive race but happy to play small with Meli Melo.
