An Early Look at Gawler - 12th July

James Jordan from Racing.com provides us with an early look at racing at Gawler for Saturday July 12th.

Race 4 No.5 - Autumn Splendour

Happy enough to risk the Victorian visitor Valentina Star in this race, which leaves me with a race in two between Grinzinger Express and Autumn Splendour. I thought Grinzinger Express was professional enough last start behind an impressive winner but it was a good day to be on pace and I can't see him running a high rating. I've been impressed with Autumn Splendour in her trial and jumpout and with a 3kg pull in the weights I think she'll give the favourite a run for her money. Considering the prices, happy to be with Autumn Splendour for the win and I'll consider having a quinella as a saver.

Race 7 No.5 - Columbia

His first-up win was better than it looked. He was really the only horse to win from midfield or worse on the program and he'll be better suited out to the 1200-metre trip. A couple of leaders have been scratched so I don't think there will be much tempo on and from the gate I can see him fifth on the fence on the back of Amberdi. In a battle of acceleration I think Columbia can beat this field and Todd Pannell rides him well. The $3.40 on offer for him should hold up and I think that's a fair price.
