Media Release: 'Dare to Dream' winners to draw horses and trainers

The lucky winners of Thoroughbred Racing South Australia’s (TRSA) ‘Dare to Dream’ competition will this Saturday be paired with a top-class trainer and discover which two racehorses they will receive share in as part of the ultimate racehorse ownership experience.

25 winners were drawn from close to 10,000 entrants, with each winner inviting 9 friends to join their racehorse ownership syndicate. Each syndicate will be allocated two horses alongside one of South Australia’s top training teams - Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas, Richard and Chantelle Jolly, Chris Bieg and Ryan Balfour. The syndicates will be attached to these trainers for the next two years, with all horse ownership and racing costs taken care of for that time as part of the winning prize.

The new owners will have a chance to talk racing with their new team at an event on Saturday 14 December, with representatives for each of the trainers attending the event at Morphettville Racecourse, participating in a Q&A session and sharing ownership stories and training highlights.

And, while it’ll be some time before we know if the owners have a winner on their hands, an exhibition gallop will also be held on Saturday to give the syndicates a taste of what’s to come.

“This is an outstanding opportunity and we’re excited to be introducing 250 lucky South Australians to the thrill of racehorse ownership,” said TRSA CEO Jim Watters.

“We were delighted with the huge interest in the competition and the outstanding number of entries – it just goes to show that interest in ownership is alive and well in South Australia.

“I am already hearing some amazing stories about where the winners come from and who they have invited to join them in their syndicates. It looks like we will be having winners from all corners of the State joining us on Saturday.

“I look forward to seeing all of them trackside soon – to join in the ride!”
