BEST BET: THE OLYMPIAN (Race 3)
EACH-WAY: OUR DEEP AGENDA (Race 5)
VALUE: VINDEX (Race 7)
RACE 1 - 1:20PM Carlton Draught Rating 0-62 Handicap (900 METRES)
NATURE DEEL was a Balaklava winner on debut and had some specking first-up from a break when she only battled in a strong race behind Streetcar Stranger at Morphettville. Blinkers go on, she draws a nice gate to box seat and looks hard to beat. The $3.20 on offer early markets is appealing. BLIND CHANCE ran a $2.40 favourite at Bordertown last time out. Draws wide but looks to have some upside. EXALTED GOLD won this track and trip five runs back, draws to be right on the speed. ROCK HARD will also be on the speed here, while VIETTI would be into this race up to her ears. She’s a well-travelled ex-McEvoy runner who was then with Richard and Chantelle Jolly. She is back from a Darwin campaign when she didn’t fire a shot.
SELECTIONS: NATURE DEEL, Blind Chance, Exalted Gold
RACE 2 - 1:55PM Gold Cup Friday 16 October / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1800 METRES)
EAGLE EYES is a big watch. He’s a son of Free Eagle, out of well-bred mare Perfect Kiss on debut for the Tony and Calvin McEvoy stable. EAGLE EYES is first-up at 1800m and while jump outs at Flemington have been only fair, she will no doubt be primed for this. NAKHEEL was OK first-up in SA behind Shojiki before leading at Gawler last week and being run down late by Monraaj. She draws well and should again make the speed. The 1800m won’t be an issue. These two look to have this race between them. IRONICAL was only fair first-up from a spell behind Talamo here last month but draws the inside and looks an improver. ROUGH BEAUTY ran really well coming from a long way back behind Melody Man here last time first-up for Garrett Lynch. She could be the blow-out.
SELECTIONS: EAGLE EYES, Nakheel, Rough Beauty
RACE 3 - 2:30PM Fibretrack / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1400 METRES)
THE OLYMPIAN was runner-up at his first two starts and stuck on strongly behind Double Blue, beating home subsequent winner Promoter two back. He eased in betting, settled back and was only average last time, but has the winkers on and looks a big player here. SAMURAI MOON is having his second run in SA. He was a $2.70 favourite but failed, beaten 12.5 lengths behind Neodium here in July. He was placed at his previous two in Victoria at Bendigo and Sale and that form is good for a race like this. CLUB DOUBLE has placed at three of four starts, the latest behind Talamo here and that’s a good pointer for this race. BOUDOIR was placed twice at Naracoorte earlier in the year and looked good winning a recent Morphettville trial. MEADOWS YOUNG BUCK has been placed at two of six starts and race on speed but tired late behind Pimm’s Party last time. This is a drop in class.
SELECTIONS: THE OLYMPIAN, Samurai Moon, Club Double
RACE 4 - 3:05PM Magic Millions / SABOIS Three Year Old Maiden Plate (Heat 4 Rebel Raider Series) (1200 METRES)
HALOGEN debuted at Moonee Valley back in December and was beaten 7.2 lengths. He is a son of Sebring out of Solar Charged, who was a dual G3 winner and ran sixth in a Golden Slipper, making him a half to superstar mare Sunlight. He was a $650k yearling purchase so would want to be measuring up in a race like this. IMPOSSIBLE ACTION looked OK in a Morphettville trial last month running fifth behind Mileva, who won well at Morphettville on Saturday. MUFFLA was ridden out to finish second behind Galaxy Keeper who franked that form winning at Morphettville on Saturday. PEARL DYNASTY didn’t do a lot behind stablemate Pimm’s Party on debut but has the blinkers going on and draws a nice gate. TABLOID STAR trialled well behind Great Leveller back in February and went to the paddock. He’s had another trial behind Galaxy Keeper at Morphettville recently and must be kept safe. BOTTOM LINE is a Phillip Stokes debutant who has had two trials, while stablemate CUZZEN didn’t do a lot on debut but draws a nice gate. ORDER IS RESTORED ran well behind Chosen Blonde in town two starts back and has trialled OK since. BIARCHI was beaten eight lengths on debut and is now with the David Jolly stable.
SELECTIONS: HALOGEN, Impossible Action, Pearl Dynasty
RACE 5 - 3:40PM Functions at Bridges Event Centre Rating 0-62 Handicap (1400 METRES)
PROMOTER was heavily backed on debut and had issues on the tight-turning Parks track before coming here and winning smartly, beating Kayseri. He draws out but will appreciate having room and has a lot of upside – plus the Michael Hickmott stable is airborne. THE ANT’S PANTS was $5.50-$4.80 before winning here last time around, draws a nice gate and should be right in the mix again. OUR DEEP AGENDA was $3.80-$5.50 and beaten 6.1 lengths first-up at Morphettville. She was a $1.45 winning at Gawler back in February and looks an improver in a race like this. SADENTE was a good winner at Morphettville two starts back and she made good ground behind Skilled Bunch last time. She has a tricky wide gate, but has the right jockey to overcome that. ANNIKA was a Strathalbyn winner back in February and tried hard when runner-up behind Skilled Bunch at Morphettville on the Parks track last time. She draws the inside and will run well. XINGYUN was well tried on debut before breaking his maiden at Gawler. He got back behind Skilled Bunch at Morphettville last time but has some appeal.
SELECTIONS: PROMOTER, Our Deep Agenda, Sadente
RACE 6 - 4:15PM TAB Rating 0-58 Handicap (Heat 13 NJT Series) (1600 METRES)
CONCONI has a good record here and has been game her past couple when runner-up behind Pearl Bandit at Morphettville and then Allacciato here last time. She draws to be right on speed again and has never finished further back than second in four starts here. EXALTED TRAVELLER doesn’t run too many bad races and has placed at both runs here. He draws out but Todd Pannell back on is a strong pointer. LISETTE has talent and ran well behind Pearl Bandit at Morphettville before only battling last time. IS THAT SO had some good specking and made ground to be beaten just 2.7 lengths behind stablemate The Ant’s Pants last time out.
SELECTIONS: CONCONI, Exalted Traveller, Lisette
RACE 7 - 4:50PM Bridges Event Centre Rating 0-58 Handicap (1200 METRES)
Big field to finish the day and was very keen on BOOMER BEACH before his scratching. BRIMARVI ROOBOY was a good winner at Gawler before an OK run here last time. He draws a sticky gate but has claims. VIVALDI’S QUEST has won three of his past five and was only fair up in class behind Wounded Solider last time. He draws off the track but that might not be a bad thing. TWICE FORGOTTEN had some specking at odds when she got over the top of Trip here last time. She draws well and must be respected. DEXSTRA was good behind Deep Dive first-up in town, before racing handy and boxing on OK behind The Ant’s Pants last time here. He doesn’t win out of turn but looks to have come back well. FERGIE was a good run, making ground behind Grinzinger Express last time. Is also drawn wide but will be finishing off hard. MAGIC PHANTOM won well last time, is fitter and goes OK second-up. VINDEX was an eye-catcher here last time behind The Ant’s Pants and would be in the mix with a repeat. SPIRITED MATCH drops sharply in class, while GENERAL MINT has been going OK and draws well
SELECTIONS: BRIMARVI ROOBOY, Vindex, Twice Forgotten
