Key interstate noms boost Wylie Handicap

Kayla Crowther will be out to make amends for missing the ride on star filly Instant Celebrity in this weekend’s $100,000 TAB W H Wylie Handicap at Morphettville.

Crowther has the choice of three horses from the Phillip Stokes yard: impressive first-up winner Seemingly Discreet, Shamino and Snitzkraft.

The 1100m feature has been bolstered by some key nominations from big-name Victorian trainers.

Anthony and Sam Freedman have entered Sangster and Goodwood placegetter Lyre, who could return to Adelaide for the race after a slashing first-up run behind Diamond Effort in The Heath at Caulfield on August 29. Stablemate Prophet’s Thumb is also among entries.

Mike Moroney has nominated She’s A Thief for the feature while Peter Moody has Our Campana nominated in Adelaide along with two races in Melbourne.

Both horses are also nominated for key races at Caulfield on Saturday.

Gordon Richards’ Garner will step out second-up in the Wylie, which boasts some class. Tony and Calvin McEvoy’s Ef Troop is poised to resume alongside Kemalpasa, who suffered a minor set-back earlier this month. Kemalpasa was slated to resume at Flemington last weekend before injuring himself in his stable.

The horse produced a slashing run first-up when placed behind Behemoth in the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Morphettville on August 15.
