Lincoln Moore's Strathalbyn Preview

BEST BET: BOOMER BEACH (Race 4)

EACH-WAY: SARNIA (Race 3)

VALUE:  PIVOTAL FORCE (Race 7)

RACE 1 - 1:20PM Harry of All Trades / SABOIS Distance Maiden Plate (2050 METRES)

Looks the perfect race for IRONICAL who was good behind Talamo first-up before sticking on well behind Nakheel at Murray Bridge last time out. Draws a nice gate the blinkers go off and won’t get many better chances to break his maiden than this. ROUGH BEAUTY would be a danger on her run two back when she pulled ground late off Melody Man at Murray Bridge, NGAIRE is the best of the rest and finished runner-up at Gawler behind Magus Man three starts back.

SELECTIONS: IRONICAL, Rough Beauty, Ngaire

RACE 2 - 1:55PM Welcome Back to Racing at Strath / SABOIS Mares Maiden Plate (Heat 3 Viddora Series) (1100 METRES)

The McEvoy stable aren’t regulars at Strathalbyn and LORNE should ensure they make the trip worth while. He was specked to run a $5 favourite when 3.5 lengths third behind Miss Leila at Geelong back in March. Gets the blinkers for the first time and looks the testing material. ZARLEY EVE was well in the market but only plain on debut. She did trial OK and was given a solid hit-out at the Murray bridge jump-outs last week for her first-up assignment. The Jolly stable is on fire. Of the debutants, LEAVE IT TO ME trialled well behind subsequent Balaklava winner Vancity Gem, BON PEGASUS has had three trials for her debut and Todd Pannell takes the ride which is a solid pointer.

SELECTIONS: LORNE, Zarley Eve, Bon Pegasus

RACE 3 - 2:30PM Strath Small Engines / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1200 METRES)

SARNIA was runner-up behind Xingyun at Gawler three starts back, ran OK in a much stronger race behind Shojiki before another good effort when runner-up at Oakbank last time. She’s bursting to break through but faces a horrid wide barrier which may be offset by some give in the track and $7 is each-way value. In contrast stablemate ZESTEND draws beautifully in barrier three and ran 4th behind Koruto in a recent Morphettville trial and looked ok in a recent Murray Bridge jump-out. CUZZEN debuted here back in March and only battled but has two trials under her belt. THE BULL MCCABE has had plenty of chances recently, HI SMOKEY also has had a few tries but worth some thought. KENDELL’S PRIDE was formerly with Patrick Payne, MYSTIC KNOT is a first starter for Andrew Clarken and wasn’t beaten far in a recent Murray Bridge jump-out.

SELECTIONS: SARNIA, The Bull Mccabe, Zestend

RACE 4 - 3:05PM Commercial Hotel Class 2 Handicap (1200 METRES)

BOOMER BEACH gets his chance to bounce back to winning form after three runs back from a long lay off. He got a long way back when beaten 2.9 lengths behind Pindaric at Morphettville last time, he draws the perfect gate. SUNMATE wasn’t far away up in class in town last time and loves the sting out of the track. LUCKY DOG was heavily backed from $7-$3.60 favourite before scoring by a length at Oakbank on debut. The stable is having a good run and he looks right in this. PANZER PRINCESS is placed at four of 10 starts here and went to the front and dominated beating Boomer Beach last ti. She’ll be eight on the speed and looks a big chance again.  RISING THUNDER is a former Victoria first-up for Kristi Evans and was a Wangaratta winner three starts back. MY MATE SONNY  was a Port Augusta winner before being freshened up. OUR BOY BAILEY won a maiden at Gawler on a Saturday going back to July and draws a good barrier.

SELETIONS: BOOMER BEACH, Sunmate, Lucky Dog

RACE 5 - 3:40PM Talking Hair and Beauty Rating 0-58 Handicap (1100 METRES)

I thought PALE ALE could win again before his scratching. THE PUBLIKIN was a winner here in May and made ground behind Australian Design at her latest run here in June. He has placed fresh and likes some give in the ground, stablemate DOMESDAY MAGIC won her maiden over 1100m here in May and was stretched out to 1800m just two starts later at Morphettville on June before going to the paddock. LOHN RANGER has placed at two of three starts here and resumes in a winnable race aided by the claim. EXALTED QUEEN was a winner here in February and will find this much easier than last start in town when she was spaced by Seemingly Discreet. SAND CAT was a winner here in June and loves her home track, KILOWATT wasn’t beaten far after leading the up behind PALE ALE at Oakbank last time.

SELECTIONS: THE PUBLIKIN, Lohn Ranger, Exalted Queen

RACE 6 - 4:15PM Fleurieu Milk Company Rating 0-58 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Another race where my top tip CAN’T BLUFF ME has come out. IS THAT SO had very good backing but was beaten 8 lengths behind Conconi last time at Murray Bridge. He ran well at his previous behind stablemate The Ant’s Pants and can turn it around quickly. I thought SYLVAN CREST had claims at a big price. He led them up and stuck on well behind Leorbit at Gawler last time and has been placed twice here. JACK’S A CRACKER has been racing well and was sent out favourite at Balaklava when 5th behind Allacciato. He’s only one win from 20 starts but won’t get too many better chances from the nice barrier. FLYING PIERRO is the best credentialled horse here he was 4th behind Game Keeper at Gawler in April and had some handy form in better races and is a three-time winner. The blinkers go off but he does need to lift. BACK POCKET looks better suited here and draws the inside gate. CITY BEATS had some specking and ran well behind Aussie Jack at Oakbank last time, LORD ROSENTHAL is another who ran well at Oakbank last time. BIG CALL is a track specialist with seven wins here.

SELECTIONS: IS THAT SO, Sylvan Crest, Jack’s A Cracker

RACE 7 - 4:50PM Northpoint Fleurieu Benchmark 62 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Good race to end the day RAPID RAISER was a good Gawler winner two starts back before a handy effort in town behind Tubby Two Tracks last time. That’s a strong form line for a race like this and he’ll take beating. STRYKE IN STYLE is two from two here and hasn’t been far away recently without really threatening he looks an improver on his home track. PIVOTAL FORCE was a good winner three starts back and ran well in town behind Silverhawk. He came form well back to be beaten less than 2 lengths behind Pindaric last time and that looks solid form for this. ANNIKA has a handy record and was in the market but only battled behind The Ant’s Pants last time. Her only win came here and she has appeal. MT STYLISH was a Pakenham winner five runs back. He didn’t do a lot first-up in SA but looks a natural improver. LOOKING AROUND was racing very well last preparation over much further but can run a cheeky race. HILUMIERE has been in the money at 11 of 17 starts here and could improve on a rain affected track.

SELECTIONS: RAPID RAISER, Pivotal Force, Stryke In Style
