Lincoln Moore's Port Lincoln Preview

BEST BET: PERFECT COMMAND (Race 1)

EACH-WAY: REGINA DEL DRAMMA (Race 7)

VALUE: TINTAGEL ROCKER (Race 5)

RACE 1 - 12:40PM JP Cabinets Benchmark 66 Handicap (Heat 2 Happy Trails Series) (1390 METRES)

Smallest field of the day but a nice race to kick off, with some metro form lines. PERFECT COMMAND gets in really well with the claim for Scarlet So and did win his only start here. His recent form in town has been good. He was beaten just 2.4 lengths behind Somerset Maugham last time and the winner has been back to Adelaide and bolted in since. His best is certainly good enough. EXCELTARA trialled well for his return but has been only fair in three starts. This looks his chance to improve and he had some form around good horses back in April. KINGSON is another who has been racing really well. He scored at Morphettville at big odds in July and backed that up with a good run behind Jacobite Prince. He’s a local who has won six races here but never over the 1390m. TROGIR boasts a Caulfield win to his name when with the Stokes stable and he worked to line OK at Balaklava last time. DANCES OF HEROES draws a nice gate, while ONWARD has a good record this track and trip but is 0-6 first-up.

SELECTIONS: PERFECT COMMAND, Kingson, Exceltara

RACE 4 - 2:25PM Liberty Rural Port Lincoln Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000 METRES)

KISHSTAR looks very well suited here. His form last campaign was very good and he resumed with a good effort behind the promising Galaxy Keeper at Morphettville. He backed that up when coming from off the speed to get over the top of rivals at Murray Bridge last time. Draws a nice gate and looks hard to beat. STORM VOYAGER has three wins and three placings from his 11 starts here and also boasts a strong first-up record. Todd Pannell booked to ride is a big tick. LA PETITE ROUSSE has placed at five of 10 starts here and is primed for this following a Gawler trial win recently. She draws a good gate and is sure to be in the mix. PEACE CLOUD is lightly raced and was placed at two runs here over the 1000m last year, before breaking his maiden on New Year’s Eve beating Mandala. ROCK HARD is a speedster who should be suited here over the 1000m, and has the claim for Lizzie Annells. OBLIQUE LINE is no stranger here, having won four and being placed on 10 occasions from 26 starts at Port Lincoln. However, he is probably going to be more effective over further.

SELECTIONS: KISHSTAR, Storm Voyager, La Petite Rousse

RACE 5 - 3:00PM Brian Harvey Agencies Benchmark 80 Handicap (Heat 3 Riziz Series) (1000 METRES)

Good race with a lot of quality. TINTAGEL ROCKER hasn’t raced since chasing home Equal Love and Li’l Kontra at Morphettville in March but was a good winner there at odds at his previous outing. He’s won 13 races, has 13 placings over the 1000m, is very good fresh and looks a good each-way play at $10. ARTFUL RAMBLER resumed with a good effort in town behind Star Hills and is five from 15 this track and trip. He draws well and is well weighted with the 3kg claim. BELLOMO is an interesting horse. His best is pretty good and he had specking at a big price first-up at Morphettville behind Thompson’s Reward. He also has won three and placed three of 10 starts here and draws perfectly in barrier two. WOTUWANT has never missed a placed in six start here and was a Morphettville winner in February. He races well fresh and must be respected. GO THE JOURNEY is a good horse with more than $300,000 in the bank. He was runner-up behind Hank’s Nephew here back in March and has won two of nine fresh. BRAMFIELD is a jet here on his home track, with nine wins and six placings from 19 starts. He’s also very good fresh but his good form late last campaign was over 1950m.

SELECTIONS: TINTAGEL ROCKER, Wotuwant, Artful Rambler

Race 7 - 4:15PM DBC Computing Solutions Benchmark 62 Handicap (1210 METRES)

Open race but happy to stick with REGINA DEL DRAMMA, who was a good Murray Bridge winner at her last start for Peter Blanch before coming over with the Gary Searle entourage. She got back and swept home to win last time. The inside gate may be a touch tricky but she has some upside and is sure to be right there in the finish. JACKPOT JOHNNY is on debut for Trevor Montgomerie and has been placed in benchmark 70 grade in town. He draws a good gate and could measure up here. TAJAVEDO goes well this track and trip and draws a nice barrier. JUSTICA goes well fresh and has won three of nine here, while FEARLESS AL trialled OK at Gawler recently but draws a sticky gate. DOCTOR DOOLITTLE has won three of four here and was sent to town in August when down the track. MAGNUS MAGIC has a handy record around here. He’s drawn out wide but wouldn’t surprise to see him run well fresh.

SELECTIONS: REGINA DEL DRAMMA, Jackpot Johnny, Doctor Doolittle
