The South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) is Adelaides' premier metropolitan racing club.

It has a long history, back to the early years of the settlement of South Australia.

Today the SAJC's premier event is the Adelaide Cup, held in March and celebrated by the state by means of a public holiday.

Adelaide Cup recieved its public holiday status for the running of the 100th Adelaide Cup, aptly named the "Centenary Cup", in 1973.
