Wine trade boothOne of the most popular Sunday race days on the South Australian calendar, the Langhorne Creek Vignerons' Day is more than just a horse race.

Celebrating the best that the local region has to offer in food and wine, the day is one for all the family to enjoy the atmosphere and grounds of the picturesque Strathalbyn Racecourse.

In 2013, the Strathalbyn Racing Club and Langhorne Creek Wine Region will be celebrating 20 years of the iconic Langhorne Creek Vignerons Race Day. There's nothing like a strong tradition!

Get caught up in the thrill of the races, toe tap to live music, keep the kids busy with children's entertainment, and indulge in gourmet food and superb Langhorne Creek branded wines.

Wineries are present in a designated wine area on course to offer wine tasting and sales by the bottle or glass. Insignia glasses are also sold.

Bring your own picnic rug and chairs for a relaxed day out or take things more seriously with a hospitality package.

Eden Marquee


There's nothing like a day in the garden of Eden.

Promising an experience that will tantalise the senses, the Eden marquee will provide racegoers with a high-end, decadent atmosphere to mix and mingle in the heart of Langhorne Creek.

Eden guests will enjoy premium quality food and wine throughout the day in a cocktail setting conducive to mingling and taking in the racing atmosphere. 

The ‘Eden’ marquee at the Vigneron’s Cup will boast an extensive grazing menu designed to highlight the bountiful produce of the region. Head chef, Marcus McCreight, from Giovanni’s Restaurant in Mt Barker has worked closely with local farmers and growers to source ingredients that are at their seasonal best. 

In the afternoon, the team from Giovanni’s will be loading up large rustic boards with their irresistible range of freshly baked wood fired gourmet pizzas.  For dessert, guests will be lured by the sugary delights of “Sweet temptation in Eden”.

The menu will be complemented by an extensive range of wines from Langhorne Creek Vignerons and beers from one of the clubs longest serving sponsors, Lion Nathan.


Tickets to Eden are $180 for the Langhorne Creek Vignerons Day and include food, beverages, transport from Adelaide* a race book and entry on the day.

Dress Code: Spring race wear.

The Green Room - Fine Dining

$135 per person ($120 for members)

The Green Room offers hospitality to guests wishing to celebrate their day at the races in style. Offering fantastic views of the racecourse with full glass frontage, The Green Room allows you to capture all the excitement and atmosphere of your track side location.
Package includes:

  • a sensational three course luncheon designed by our head chef
  • beverages including premium beer, wines, and soft drinks served from midday
  • until the start of the last race (spirits available for purchase)
  • racecourse admission and racebook for each guest
  • tea and coffee facilities
  • Private betting facilities
  • TV monitors
  • Linen table cloths and napkins

The Corporate Burgundy Room

$100 per person (minimum 60 guests)

The Corporate Burgundy Room is a great hospitality option right in the heart of all the action. Located on the ground level of the members' enclosure, The Corporate Burgundy Room opens out into a private fenced area opposite the home straight and adjacent to the mounting yard.

  • Private track side air conditioned room
  • Finger food package with service staff
  • Beverages including premium beer, wines, and soft drinks served from midday
  • until the start of the last race (spirits available for purchase)

BBQ Buffet Lunch & Beverage Marquee Package

$135 per person

A syndicated marquee that provides protection from the sun and a chance to relax with friends. The gourmet BBQ buffet is the perfect dining style for those who want a sit-down lunch but don't want to be hindered by formal service. Great for social clubs or corporate networking.
Package includes:

  • Exclusive furnished marquee with ample seating
  • Gourmet BBQ buffet lunch designed by Finns Fine Foods
  • Fully staffed bar centrally located inside your marquee serving beverages from midday until the start of the last race
  • Racecourse admission for each guest
  • Exclusive outdoor courtyard with outdoor furniture

'Picnic at the Races' Reserved Picnic Table

$200 per table (six guests per package)

Reserve your favourite track side location and pre-purchase a 'Picnic at the Races' Reserved Outdoor Seating Package. The racetrack staff take huge pride in the presentation of the gardens and roses at Strathalbyn earning it the moniker of 'The Flemington of the South'
The package provides attendees with a great place to relax in the shade all day.
If you've got 12 people, it's simple, just book two packages.
Package includes:

  • Admission to the racecourse for six people
  • A market umbrella, garden table and six chairs
  • Access to the public bars and premium food providers

General Admission

$20 per person

If you’d rather keep it low key, grab some friends together and make the most of the ample lawn areas at the track. 

You can purchase wines by the bottle or glass from the sponsor wineries and choose from a huge variety of foods stalls including wood fired pizzas and slow cooked American style bbq burgers.   

Popular Adelaide band, The Happy Leonards will play in the main area throughout the day to ensure everyone is on their feet.
