Spring Hopefuls Trial at Morphettville

More of the state's best horses stepped out at trials this morning as they look to make their presence felt at home and across the border this spring.

Trial One

The Lloyd Kennewell trained Get The Nod looks ready to return to the races after a very impressive trial this morning. The 2014 Group 3 Vain Stakes winner has not been seen at the races since the 2015 Group 2 Euclase Stakes and has now put together two back to back trial wins. He beat the Tony McEvoy trained pair of Fox Hall who won the 2017 Nitschke Stakes and his new addition from Western Australia, Cool Passion by a length. Those three put a gap on the rest of the field.

Trial Four

In a small field, the undefeated Counterplay looks to be a quality horse from the Phillip Stokes yard. The three-year-old filly looked comfortable the whole trip beating home her stablemate, Group 3 Breeders Stakes winner Broadband by a length.

Trial Six

The in-form Niki O’Shea and Ashton Downing stable look to have another smart horse in their ranks with Dexelation. This was the gelding’s first public trial and he held off the fast finishing Renegade from the Tony McEvoy yard. The Gordon Richards trained Charossa also ran on well to finish fourth.

Trial Ten

Jim’s Journey was impressive again with another trial win as he looks towards the spring for trainer Peter Blanch. Jim’s Journey coasted down the middle of the track to defeat Pale Ale and Kourkam by just over a length.
