Spring Selections: Stakes Day

Saturday marks the final day of the Flemington Carnival and our tipsters give their best bets for the last Victorian Group 1's of the year!

Thanks again to the voice of South Australian racing Terry McAuliffe and The Advertiser's Lincoln Moore and Ben Scadden.

Group 1 Emirates Stakes

Terry McAuliffe: Gingernuts - The Kiwi's Grand Final in Melbourne had to be altered due to an abandoned race meeting. He is the fresh horse on the scene of many of his leading contenders in this.

Lincoln Moore: Gingernuts - Kiwi raider who has been set for this race as a Melbourne target, looks the one to beat.

Ben Scadden: Gingernuts - I like the fact this bloke hasn't been belted from pillar to post in the lead-up to this, unlike some of his main rivals who chased Winx in the Cox Plate. He's an outstanding talent and I think he's ready to deliver on the big stage.

Group 1 Darley Classic

Terry McAuliffe: Vega Magic - Carried just about everyone's support in the Manikato but disappointed behind Hey Doc. I am happy to give him another chance on his previously faultless form.

Lincoln Moore: Redkirk Warrior - Wasn’t beaten far in the Everest and grows a leg at Flemington.

Ben Scadden: Redkirk Warrior - This is a damn tough race and you never know how the track is going to play. Redkirk Warrior is proven under these conditions and I think he's very good value at around $14.
