He’s ridden for over 40 years and partnered the great Vo Rogue but on Saturday, Cyril Small will make his Streaky Bay Cup debut.
Queensland based Small is best known for his connection with legend of the Australian turf, Vo Rogue who Small rode to 22 of his 26 career victories. Among a swag of other victories, Small partnered Vo Rogue to a hat-trick of wins in the C F Orr Stakes from 1988-1990.
Small is one of three jockeys making the trip down from Queensland to ride in Saturday's Streaky Bay Cup. He will be joined by Paul Hamblin and Alannah Badger.
Small is booked to have three rides on the Streaky Bay card with John D'Non (Race 3), Hard At It (Race 5) and Flash Hussey (Race 6).
He is also booked to ride Toorak Road in Race 5 at Oakbank on Sunday for John Hickmott, while his son Braidon will ride Dormello Mo in the Von Doussa Steeplechase.
