MEDIA RELEASE: Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival more action packed than ever before

If you're looking for the ultimate outing this Easter long weekend, look no further than the Oakbank Easter Racing Carnival with its two full days of trackside entertainment and FREE kids' activities.

With a rich history spanning over 145 years, it's the State's biggest race meet, and its unique 'picnic' style attracts visitors from far and wide. This year's event has something in store for everyone and will take place at the Oakbank Racecourse on Saturday 20 and Monday 22 April.

This year's range of hospitality packages will have you spoilt for choice, with areas to both celebrate and indulge. The popular Back Paddock Precinct will boast  a variety of food trucks and will also be serving delicious beverages from bars and drink vans including Pimms, Espresso Martini, O'Leary Walker Wines and Long Barrell Brewing.

Alternatively, treat yourself to exquisite wine and gourmet food at the exclusive Molly Dooker Long Lunch. This brand-new experience will be held on both days and with only 200 spots available, make sure you're quick to secure your seats.

Oakbank Racing Club Chairman Barney Gask said the Super Saturday and Family-Day Monday will be bigger than ever, with newly refurbished facilities and two full days of action both on and off the track.

"A day at Oakbank has never looked so good and we're excited for racegoers to utilise and enjoy our new spaces and hospitality experiences," Mr Gask said.

"The Easter Racing Carnival has always been known for its relaxed and family atmosphere and this year we've placed a great focus on organising brand-new activities for kids to enjoy."

It's the perfect destination for families with the much-loved Stable Stars and 30 FREE activities for kids, including pony rides, a bungy trampoline, Easter egg hunts, face painting, a rock-climbing wall and many more.

Calling all fashionistas - there's a huge $2,000 prize up for grabs for the most stylish entrant in the Fashion at The Races competition. The winner of the Oakbank round of the statewide competition will also qualify for the final that will take place in September.

Media Makeup will also be touching up makeup all weekend at the Beauty Bar, which can be accessed by anyone in the General Admission area.

Transport to and from the racetrack will be easier than ever thanks to the Pony Express bus service provided by Sealink, which is offering $20 return or $10 one-way tickets  from  a range of locations in Adelaide and selected hills hotels.

And if you thought it couldn't get any better - it does, as the Oakbank Racecourse is the only racetrack in Australia where you can BYO everything. Yes, you heard correctly... BYO everything!  So, reserve a table, pack a picnic and your  favourite  bottle of wine and prepare for a weekend family escape to the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
