“I think it is essential that we have a presence at our local racecourse. Shane Collins and his team at the Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club are a highly progressive club with outstanding facilities and a strong desire to work with us to promote our sport” said Hayes.

GBJC CEO Shane Collins was excited to unveil the new partnership. “The Gawler & Barossa Jockey is proud to be associated with such a professional and passionate thoroughbred business like Cornerstone Stud. We have been working very hard with the team from Cornerstone Stud to put together an exciting new Racing Series to be conducted here at Gawler. A partnership that is not only beneficial for both parties, but also our very important for industry participants. I am so proud of what we have been able to put together with the management from Cornerstone Stud, and we look forward to an exciting and positive relationship moving forward.”

The Cornerstone Stud sponsorship will run in conjunction with a Spring Race Series for Fillies and Mares. This set up to promote the Angaston stud’s exciting new stallion SIR PRANCEALOT and his barn mates in AMBIDEXTER, VALENTIA and ZEBEDEE.

The ‘Cornerstone Stud Sir Prancelot Series’ will consist of 6 qualification races to be run throughout Spring at the club and will culminate in a Sir Prancelot Final to be held on Saturday the 21st of December over 1200m and restricted to qualified Fillies and Mares. Both the winning Owners and Trainer will be gifted a nomination to SIR PRANCEALOT.  Furthermore, the first filly to win a lead up heat to the final will be eligible to a free AMBIDEXTER nomination for 2020.

“I really hope that our local SA Trainers can target this Race Series, as I would love to see this develop into an annual event that we can grow and develop. We have a young roster of stallions and if we are succeeding, then the local breeders are succeeding along with us, and the whole of the SA racing Industry can be recipients of that success too.” added Hayes.

The Gawler & Barossa Jockey Club also thanks the racing department of Thoroughbred Racing South Australia for their assistance in putting this series together.
