Lincoln Moore's Bordertown Preview

BEST BET: VON COSTA GLASS (Race 5)

EACH-WAY: THE RAVEN (Race 4)

VALUE: MISS CATASTROPHI (Race 6)

RACE 1 - 2:15PM Doan Pharmacies / SABOIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

RUNNING TIDE is lightly raced but was runner-up behind Wild Willy at Penola back in October before a break. She’s trialled OK for this and the stable has a good record here the $3.70 in early markets in appealing. KARDINIA brings some good Victorian form over the border here. His Warrnambool run three starts back is good enough to measure up in this and Jason Holder is booked to ride. ATTACK THE PIN, now in the Dion Koch stable, can run a cheeky race and the 1000m is appealing. GIRLINTHEMIRROR has been placed at five of 15 starts, including fresh, while ANRUSHKA had been trialling well, was OK on debut and clearly has ability.

SELECTIONS: RUNNING TIDE, Kardinia, Attack The Pin

RACE 2 - 2:50PM Border Ag / SABOIS Maiden Handicap (1200 METRES)

MORTY started $101 on debut but was far from disgraced, beaten 4.9 lengths behind Deep Speed at Morphettville. The winner has gone onto better things since and Morty looked OK winning a recent Strathalbyn jump-out. He has found a very winnable maiden. ATOMIC TEXIE won a trial here back in August before racing near the speed on debut before fading at Oakbank behind Chief Of Army. He trialled nicely behind Three Tears for his return and should take some beating despite a wide gate. ZARLEY EVE looks under the odds-on recent efforts bit could improve in a race like this. VICARIUM has the blinkers on and wasn’t beaten a long way at odds last time out at Strathalbyn. BACK IN ACTION was placed behind Knavesmire on debut but was comfortably beaten in two runs before a break. She draws an inside gate and is in very clever hands.

SELECTIONS: MORTY, Atomic Texie, Vicarium

RACE 3 - 3:25PM Ray White Bordertown Benchmark 64 Handicap (1550 METRES)

KYSHAKA has won three (placed four) of 13 starts and has always shown some talent. She was well fancied at Murray Bridge two starts back behind Unlaced before she was narrowly beaten by Skillful Steps in the Coonawarra Cup last start. She’s back in trip but perfectly drawn and gets her chance – but she does looks slightly under the odds at $2.30. Stablemate SEBONNA has talent and was impressive on debut for Peter Hardacre, before finding her niche over 2000m to beat Hasta La Fiorente before a spell. She’ll be better over further but her fresh record is very good. PEWTER jumped favourite when beaten by Bubblewrap here last time out and is sure to be in the mix from a handy gate. He gets into this very well with the claim. ENBARR is capable in a race like this, BRONSKI strips fitter here and was specked first-up at a price. O’MIZZNA has been placed at two of three starts here.

SELECTIONS: KYSHAKA, Pewter, Sebonna

RACE 4 - 4:00PM Bordertown Haulage Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200 METRES)

THE RAVEN has been in great form for Kristi Evans and defeated Four Of A Kind at Morphettville four starts back. He chased the same horse home last time in a handy race. The Raven draws well, gets in well with the claim and is going to take some beating. The $6 each-way is appealing in a race like this. The improver could be GRINZINGER EXPRESS who was a Murray Bridge winner back in August and her return was OK behind Calypso Reign in a stronger race. WONAEAMIRRI has won two (placed one) of three starts on his home track and draws to be thereabouts. MASTERATI has been placed at two of three here and will make his own luck from a good barrier. GREETINGS NED wasn’t far away at Warrnambool last time and he’s been competitive in some better races. DEFORCE is a last-start winner here when well backed but is drawn a wide gate.

SELECTIONS: THE RAVEN, Wonaeamirri, Grinzinger Express

RACE 5 - 4:35PM Lawrences Irrigation / SABOIS Plus Summer Cup (2000 METRES)

VON COSTA GLASS comes off an impressive Murray Bridge win when he worked into the clear late and powered over the top of rivals at nice odds. The 2000m should hold no fears and he gets in well via the claim. He’s into the red after the scratching of logical danger Hasta La Fiorente but looks a good thing on last time. Improver could be MR RECKLESS, who had some specking and was only beaten 2.1 lengths behind Skillful Steps at Penola last time – and the extra trip looks suits. SENTRY GATE ran well behind Stan The Caddy at Gawler in a handy form race and has good record this track and trip. He looks nicely suited from a good barrier. DYAGILEV ran well behind Dr Dee Dee here last time. He and FLOW METER both race well here while THE RED SEA is back in class and will be on speed from an inside gate.

SELECTIONS: VON COSTA GLASS, Mr Reckless, Sentry Gate

RACE 6 - 5:10PM Bordertown Pumps Benchmark 54 Handicap (1300 METRES)

SYLVAN CREST won at Strathalbyn and Gawler before leading up last time when well beaten behind Magic Dee. This is easier and he will give this a shake from a good gate. VILVALDI’S QUEST comes out of the same race when he led and folded up, but he could be an improver in a race like this. WICKED WHITT is close to winning a race for Travis Doudle and his run behind Our Deep Agenda at Morphettville three starts is very good for a race like this. OUTINTHESTREET is going well, won well at Penola four runs back and his latest behind Charlton at Penola was very good for this. MISS CATASTROPHI is mixing form but two of her past three have been very good – the latest behind Charlton at Penola. BLUE LAKE BOY was a drifter when he won his maiden last time, but faces a tricky draw. DABAY has a good record here and is back in trip, but worth some thought.

SELECTIONS: SYLVAN CREST, Wicked Whitt, Miss Catastrophi
