Race 4 No.3 - Barood
I think this gelding gets his chance to win another race. He was solid last start, albeit no match for winner Bold Star, and finds a race with the ideal speed map for him. He can settle in a stalking role behind Ogunde, who should set up a genuine tempo. There are a few queries in the race with the favourite and second pick essentially having their first run for new stables. I didn't think the jumpouts of Bellaria were top shelf and with that horse at $3.50 in the market I'm happy to bet into the race. If you can get the $5.50 Barood then I would be taking that price. I think he's a good chance to start around $4.
Race 5 No.4 - Picargo
Good support for this horse in the early markets where the bookies got his price wrong. I still think he's a backable price at the $4.40. He ran well last start against the impressive Deep Force and was strong late in a race with only a moderate tempo set. He should get a better tempo on here and the seven-day back-up should suit him, with trainer Ryan Balfour employing this strategy 49 times in the past 12 months for seven winners.
