Rail goes back into the true position for the first time since August 31 so the inside few lanes should be very fresh. Expecting the track to race as a Good 4 with warm weather around this week. Small fields should mean most horses are on the fresh area of the track but still slightly promoting on-pacers for the meeting.
Race 6 No.3 - Exalted Trail
I thought this horse should have won second-up, and with a minor margin adjustment I rate it as a career personal best. It's a good sign the horse will go to a new level this preparation on the back of a solid first-up run. He does rise 4.5kg but I think finds a race that's a touch easier to offset that. I thought he might be able to slot in midfield and get some cover and if that eventuates I think he's a great each-way chance. I marked him $6.50, so happy to take the $7.50 and $8 available at present.
Race 7 No.2 - Cannot Be Serios
It's quite an even field but I think the map best suits Cannot Be Serios, who can race handy to the speed but doesn't have to lead. I thought he ran well last start but the race was run at a slow tempo, which was against him, despite leading. I won't be opening the shoulders on him but happy to play small each way at the $7.50 available.
